Safety Tips That Save You Thousands
Tip 1: Determine your hazards and provide training, resources and policy on those hazards. Get sample JHA (Job Hazard Analysis) form: (scroll half way down the right column and see “Get a sample JHA NOW!!!”).
Tip 2: OSHA has a list of targeted industries on their website. Go see if you are on the list. (Scroll half way down the right column to State Plan Standards and Policies/Directives.)
Tip 3: You do not need to do a Certified CPR Course on an annual basis.
Tip4: You are responsible for purchasing personal protective equipment for your employees at no cost to them. Avoid the fine.
Tip 5: OSHA has a FREE consulting service. If you are ready to make changes in your organization and invest time, money and resources then give them a call. Remember you cannot be fined by Regulating OSHA when working with the consulting program.
Tip6: You should be talking with your insurance agent. If you are meeting the minimum requirements for safety in your workplace or if you are going above and beyond the industry standards, you are less of a risk to insure. Is that reflected in lower premiums to you? Ask.
Tip 7: The Department of Industrial Accidents has FREE UNMATCHED safety training money (up to $25,000) to give to any business in Massachusetts who pays into Worker’s Compensation. Just remember, you will need to name the training company that you will be working with in the grant. So, find the training company first then work to do the grant together. Safety Trainers writes the grant for you.
