This networking thing - what’s in it for you?

Your network is just like inventory. It is a resource of stable reliable business people to help you look good.  Done right, you have access to each other’s client base to help each other make money.  A strong network is a constant source of information about what is happening in the market place.  A strong network provides a transfer of credibility. That means that when someone refers you, their credibility is transferred to you in the eyes of the prospect.

We have all sat through some of the most boring presentations of all time.  So, should your presentation be a performance?  If you perform, you will not only raise your energy level but the energy level of your audience.  Tell stories that help you make a point.  (Note: the stories don't have to be true.)  Infuse a few jokes.  Learn some simple magic.  It does not hurt if your audience knows that your are enthusiastic and passionate about the topic.  Enjoy the episode.
